Start of the new ASEAN-QA Training
From 17th to 21st November 2014, the ASEAN-QA High Level Information Visit was held in Potsdam, Germany. During the five days visit, 32 Presidents and Vice Presidents coming from universities from nine different Southeast Asian countries came together to discuss current challenges in the field of quality management and assurance in higher education. The Visit marks the start of the second ASEAN-QA phase, which aims at building up systematic internal quality assurance structures and promoting quality culture within the universities in the ASEAN-region. All 32 participating universities will implement an own individual project in the context of the training which will be attended by the respective quality managers of the institutions.
One of the highlights of the Visit in Potsdam was a panel discussion at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and a Meeting with MdB Dr. Lengsfeld in Berlin, Germany. The quality assurance practices in German universities and the role of stakeholders, for example of national and state government in quality assurance and promoting a quality culture in higher education, was of major interest. Further topics were the role of leadership in quality assurance, recent trends in higher education and external quality assurance and common higher education spaces in ASEAN and Europe.

The first TrainIQA workshop will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between 23rd and 27th February 2015.
