  • ASEAN-QA FORUM 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam

    TrainIQA Phase III in Bangkok, Thailand 2018

    The ASEAN-QA FORUM took place from 7th November 2019 until 8th November 2019 at Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, Vietnam.

    The Forum on the theme "Networking for Building and Sustaining Quality Culture in Higher Education Institutions" was attended by more than 250 participants including quality managers and directors as well as university managers, students, and also quality assurance agencies, ministries and representatives of employers. This forum represented the conclusion of the ASEAN-QA project and the launch of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Association (ASEAN-QAA), which was initiated by the alumni of the project.

    TrainIQA Phase III in Bangkok, Thailand 2018

    The fourth and last workshop of ASEAN-QA TrainIQA Phase III took place from 19 March 2018 until 21 March 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

    The main focus of the workshop was on quality assurance and the linkage to higher education management, as well as the wrap up of the individual projects of the participants in preparation of the upcoming final conference. This enabled the participants to identify lessons learned, points to improve and individual learning outcomes. The approach to aim at the outcomes with different methods like discussions, creativity methods, exercises and also theoretical inputs empowered the participants to exchange their experiences. To ensure the ongoing work on the individual projects, the participants forecasted the development of their projects five years from then. Everyone was invited to make comments and give valuable suggestions to achieve the defined goals

    Third TrainIQA Workshop in Siemp Reap, Cambodia

    The third workshop of the third ASEAN-QA TrainIQA cohort took place between 24 -28 October 2017 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

    The workshop focused on the quality assurance of study programmes and their conception. Among others the Participants learnt more about strategic curriculum planning, teaching and learning strategies, how to define study programmes’ objectives, expected learning outcomes and competences as well as the concept of constructive alignment. The workshop further dealt with the continuous revision of study programmes and how to write an evaluation self-report at programme level. Additionally, the evaluation emphasized the linkage between external and internal quality assurance approaches and how to make best use of both worlds. A further emphasuis was put on networking and collaboration in the field of quality assurance and sharing experiences on curriculum and programme evaluation for curriculum improvement.

  • Second TrainIQA Workshop 2017 in Potsdam

    The second workshop of the current ASEAN-QA TrainIQA training took place from 24 July 2017 until 1 August 2017 in Potsdam, Germany. The workshop focused on the evaluation process and on method training as well as the individuell projects of the participants. To get a practical insight into the topic, evaluation at the University of Potsdam in general and on faculty level and the follow-up activities at the University of Applied Sciences Münster were introduced. Moreover, the 32 participants coming from universities from nine different Southeast Asian countries visited the HTW Berlin and learnt a lot about their quality assurance system and the special challenges and opportunities of an University of Applied Sciences. 

  • TrainIQA Workshop on Module 1 in Kuala Lumpur

    From 20th to 24th February 2017, the participants of the second ASEAN-QA TrainIQA training came together for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The first workshop comprised presentations of international experts about quality in higher education, quality assurance and quality management systems in teaching and learning. The participants got an overview of the aims and the structure of the training programme, which will be completed in 2018 with a final conference. Moreover, the 32 participants coming from universities from nine different Southeast Asian countries developed their individual change projects that will be implemented in the context of the training at their home institutions.

  • TrainIQA 2016-18: High Level Visit in Potsdam

    From 7th to 11th November 2016, the third ASEAN-QA TrainIQA phase started  with a High Level Visit in Potsdam, Germany. The training aims at professionalising quality managers at Southeast Asian universities and to support them in their endeavor to build up systematic QA structures. During the five days visit, 35 Presidents and Vice Presidents coming from universities from nine different Southeast Asian countries came together and discussed current challenges as well as the role of the university leadership in the field of quality assurance in higher education. In the course of the ASEAN-QA phase, all participating quality managers will implement an own individual project in the context of the training at their home institution.

  • ASEAN-QA Alumni at the 2016 IIEP Policy Forum

    From 9th to 11th June 2016, the IIEP Policy Forum 2016 took place in Xiamen, China. The conference was organized by the UNESCO Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO), the Xiamen University and the Chinese Higher Education Evaluation Centre (HEEC) to examine how internal quality assurance (IQA) can contribute to higher education quality and employability. Amongst the 180 participants from 25 different countries worldwide, 10 alumni of the ASEAN-QA project were able to join and enhance the presentations and discussions. The Policy Forum thematized current topics of the quality assurance debate like the significance employability should have within the internal quality assurance. 
    Next to the academic perspective of quality, the acquisition of practical skills becomes evermore important for students and should be observed during the IQA process. Questions like how to find an appropriate balance between both and which stakeholders should be involved during the design and review of study programmes were discussed.

  • Second TrainIQA Workshop in Potsdam

    The second ASEAN-QA TrainIQA workshop took place from 27th of July to 4th of August 2015 in Potsdam, Germany. The main topics of the workshop were tools and procedures for quality assurance in higher education institutions, with a focus on the different process steps of an evaluation, survey design and data collection methods.

    As well as during the previous workshop in Kuala Lumpur, the 32 participants had ample time to work and discuss on their institutional project action plans. Through the implementation of these projects, systematic internal quality assurance structures are meant to be established at the participating higher education institutions. During the workshop, the participants also used the chance to network and to exchange own ideas and best practices to learn from each other´s' experiences. 

  • First TrainIQA Workshop in Kuala Lumpur

    The first ASEAN-QA TrainIQA workshop took place from 23rd to 27th February 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 32 participants of the training course do work within the quality assurance units at higher education institutions from nine different Southeast Asian countries. During the five days of the workshop, they met for the first time and discussed current challenges in the field of quality management in higher education. The workshop addressed basic concepts of quality in higher education, the topic of change management and models, structures, roles and implementation of quality management systems. Further an overview of quality management in Europe and the ASEAN countries were given. A main part of the training is the implementation of institutional projects of the participants which have been reviewed and discussed. The projects aim to build up systematic internal quality assurance structures, instruments or processes.
